R.S.G.B 80m Club Call Contest

Hi All.
Wednesday the 12th of January saw the first (and I hope many more) of the RSGB club events/contests
With the 80m SSB.
This was organized by Andy G7LRR and Mr. Jason M0MGF thanks to Jason for the new log system
(Of which I still need more practice) but have been installed on the system at the shack.
Also, thanks to Mr. Andy for the work carried out on the antenna system which enabled us to
Transmit on the night.
The contest started at 20.00hrs local time Andy started with a good influx of calls at this time we
We’re still having slight problems with the antennas.
M0RWL took over with M0VEY as the logger it take a while to get into this sort of thing me been a
Newby and all but we gave our best, M0VEY then took over and tried his hand at contest work
Still with the antenna playing up(and Andy in the background trying very hard to bring the offending item to the task).
Many thanks to Mr. Simon 2E0GMW and Mr. Jason (GB2RN) for calling in.
Must admit nice to talk to Jason from down south.
Would be nice if we could encourage people with CW or data/psk to take part this would
Up our club points if interested please get in touch.
Most of the contests named above can be carried out at home with the points have been awarded
To the club.
Our rating would then be much higher and also get the club noticed.
Besides you never know you may enjoy it please make a bit of an effort.
Many thanks
Bob de M0RWL 73

Humber 2010 Finale Luncheon

200 Years of Lifeboats at Spurn Point, Humber 2010 Finale Luncheon
Well as you may well know some of our members got tickets for the Luncheon, and to show our support and thanks to the crew.

Thanks to the Humber lifeboat crew, the Luncheon went very well indeed,

we were made to feel welcome once again by the crew who spoke with us all one by one about the weekend and how we did it and if we enjoyed it, they enjoyed having us there.
One of the Crew has invited us to all go up in the summer for a barbecue, we will try and make this an event I am sure.

We made a donation from the club and bought a year of history thanks to all members that dipped in we raised 80 pounds.

I know also other members have bought years also making our total for the station 155.00 pounds not bad for a small club well-done guys.

As you will see by the photos the Luncheon was packed out, Andy G7LRR, Bob  M0RWL, and John G6LNV,

presented Superintendent Coxswain Dave Steenvoorden and the crew,

with a thank, you letter and a framed photo with a little write-up on it as you can read.

This was put on display for all to see
It great day out maybe next time more will come to such events, by the way, Dave Steenvoorden and crew for the 200-year anniversary
along with their supporters raised over £65,000 for the station on the 200th anniversary.

Cheers

200th Anniversary of the Humber Lifeboat Station

This Year is the 200th Anniversary of the Humber Lifeboat Station at Spurn Point.

As part of the celebratory activities HF DX ARC will be putting the lifeboat crew on the air over the weekend of 15th 16th and 17th October 2010 on Amateur bands 20meters 40meters  80meters  SSB  and 2meters VHF  with the Special Call Sign GB2HLS  (Humber Lifeboat Station).

 Humber Lifeboat Crew

The Humber Fortress DX A.R.C is a new and upcoming club that is all about promoting Amateur Radio in Hull and surrounding areas based now at Fort Paull.

“We are now trying to attend as many events in the area to support and promote the hobby.”

All members of the HF DX ARC are looking forward to the Humber Lifeboat Station Event.

Being able to give the crew of the lifeboat station a chance to go on the air and talk to amateurs all around the world, about what they do and their lifestyle at the station.

The Humber Lifeboat Station is the only lifeboat station with a full-time crew and it has carried out some outstanding rescues during its 200-year history. One remarkable figure at the station was Coxswain Robert Cross who was awarded two Gold Medals, three Silver Medals, two Bonze Medals, and the George Medal.

“Being able to give the opportunity to the crew of the lifeboat station to appear on the air live, and talk to amateurs around the world about their lifestyle and how they work on the 200th anniversary of the station, is an honor for us to host.”

Regard

Andy Nielsen (G7LRR)
