Upcoming S.O.S. Weekend Fri26th – Mon29th May 2023

The HFDXARC will be raising awareness for the S.O.S. services around the nation and for the Humber Lifeboat that serves our local area.

These services are critical in keeping our shore lines and seas safe from peril around the clock. We will be operating from the Mill House from Friday 26th – Monday 29th May, using the call sign of GB2HSL (Humber Spurn Lifeboat).

We welcome guests and club members to come join us in the support of the RNLI here at the Clubhouse.
We will be operating Voice and Digital over the bands throughout the weekend, so please join us and help us raise the profile around the community and with the Amateur Radio enthusiasts around the world.

Mills OTA weekend was a superb success

The Club opened the doors yet again to guests and ham clubs around the region, and turned out to be a massive success. The Club house was packed throughout the activation of the Haven Mill during the Mills On the Air weekend.

We had many people come join us, and we also welcomed old friends to the club house as many have not seen the new QTH at Patrington.

The event itself was very busy, and we had 3 stations running for the majority of the time, gaining us many more friends around the world. The operators worked tirelessly through even the relatively poor conditions for the weekend.

The response from other Hams was what can only be described as superb, and we would like to thank every one of them for the support.

The weekend was more about bringing the club and community together, and bringing awareness of the hobby to many who have never been on a radio. Also to support local Clubs from around the region so we may build a successful relationship with the local hams.

Again many thanks to everyone who took part over the weekend and to each guest that came to visit us.
Sue we hope you recover soon, we need our 80m queen back at the radio.

The GB0KCC Weekend by Sue M6URG

GB0KCC WEEKEND

Wow, what a weekend was had at the club. Two first’s for me this weekend. My ‘first’ special event for the King’s Coronation – GB0KCC and with that came my first ever pile up – jeepers what an experience that was. Everyone at the club was super supportive giving me advice but I do have to say the best piece of advice came from Kev- M0KVK – The frequency is mine and I can take it at my own pace. This really helped so thanks Kev!
I had a short stint on 20m to give Kev a comfort break then Tappy – 2E1TAP thought he would copy Kev and have one for himself also. I took over and he forgot to come back – rumor has it he has a habit of doing that. I had the husband – Chris G0URG at the side of me on 80m craftily telling people my frequency and sending them my way, Kev at the other side on 20m doing the same – cheers guys!!
Monday night I had another ‘bash’ at the RSGB 80 M Club Championship. Loved every minute of it and had the boys – Andy –G7LRR & Steve – M0EBJ running scared. Watch out boys I am coming for you!!
If you are looking at joining the club or even getting into the hobby give these guys a shout.

Thanks to everyone at the club for your support – Sue M6URG

RSGB 80M Club Call Contest

The Members of the HFDXARC again entered the RSGB 80m club call contest on Monday 8th May, using the new Club Contest call of M6C from the Mill House, and personal calls from home.

They achieved superb results as individuals giving us a total of 568 QSO from the Contest. It started off a little slow but after half hour it soon picked up, and the friendly inter club contest began. One member G7LRR has held the throne for a few years, however this time it was extremely close on the final scores.
Andy G7LRR 167 | Steve M0EBJ 160 | Sue M6URG (M6C) 156 | Bob M0RWL 85
Congratulations to each and every one of the members, but a special shout out to Sue M6URG as she gave the rest a good run for their money from the Club HQ.

The Club is extremely active throughout 2023 with Events and Contests, and we welcome anyone to enquire about joining the Club or simply visiting us as a guest. See the Club events planner for future events and dates.
