Haven Mill Partington 1810
Haven Mill was built in 1810 and located just outside of the village of Partington in the Diocese of York
This was one of many mills built in the 1800s within East Yorkshire and was in daily use into the 1900s.

In 1928 the mill was looking a bit worse for wear, so it was decided to
Remove the last two sails and run the mill with an Oil engine you can see
The shed which was built to house it is on the left

One of the last photos taken of the mill was in 1936 by that time
The oil engine had been removed, and years of the top part of the mill
Being open to the weather had taken its toll so the top 3 floors were
Reduced to just as it is today ground floor and 1st floor and new roof
Capped and sealed.
How it started (Demolition )

Today
Photos of the Mill that forms the new headquarters for HFDXARC Club from the outside and within we are so lucky
To be able to operate and put haven mill on the air around the world

GB0MMH Men’s Mental Health event Fri 17 May - Sun 19 May 2024 @ HQ Millhouse

The Humber Fortress DX ARC proudly supports the 2024 International Men’s Health Initiative, advocating for men’s mental health awareness on a global scale. We will be operational from the Mill House during the weekends of May 17th-19th and June 14th-16th, utilizing the special call sign GB0MMH across all HF bands. We encourage you to listen to us and reach out; your support will significantly contribute to raising awareness of men’s mental health.
This year, GB0MMH will remain active throughout the duration, making it easy to identify us as we continue to raise awareness of MMH over the weekends. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the operators who have supported us in previous years and to those driving the initiative this year.

For far too long, men have been hesitant to discuss their struggles and have lacked the necessary support systems. Fortunately, many organizations are now assisting men facing mental health challenges on an international level. It’s crucial to talk, and even better when support is readily available, which is being increasingly utilized by men in need.
Below are links to resources that offer in-depth information and support for those reaching out for help. If you or someone you know is silently suffering from depression due to financial or family-related issues, please share the information from the supportive community advocating for men’s mental health.

RSGB IOTA @ M6C HQ

RSGB IOTA

Next RSGB IOTA Contest: 27-28 July 2024

The RSGB IOTA Contest, using the Islands on the Air concept, was created in 1993. This is now a major international event, attracting thousands of participants from all over the world. Radio Amateurs will be travelling to islands around the globe, and putting them on the air, making contacts with other islands and with those who are chasing islands.

Contest bands are 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m, both CW and phone. The duration is 24 hours, starting at 12:00 UTC on Saturday (1 p.m. UK time). Stations send a signal report and serial number, with stations on islands sending their IOTA reference number, described below.

The next RSGB IOTA Contest is 27-28 July 2024, and a guide for newcomers to the contests is at www.rsgbcc.org/hf/information/iotahelp.shtml .

The IOTA Contest is based on the RSGB Islands on the Air awards programme which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. The IOTA idea was conceived in 1964 by British short wave listener Geoff Watts (SK), who imagined that those of us who live in crowded cities would love to set up a station on a sunny beach among palm trees. This prospect is appealing to Radio Amateurs, even if the island in question might not be further away from the UK mainland than the Isle of Wight!

Geoff realised that there were too many islands in the world to enumerate, so he grouped together islands, particularly when they were small. In the IOTA programme numbers are allocated to each group using a continental prefix. The basic IOTA award requires contacts with 100 islands and groups including at least one from each continent. Entrants can obtain award credit for QSOs made in the RSGB IOTA Contest.

The IOTA Reference, sent by Island Stations in the IOTA Contest, consists of two letters indicating the continent, and a number indicating the allocated reference within that continent.

For example:

EU115 EU = Europe Ireland
AF032 AF = Africa Zanzibar
AN003 AN = Antarctica Heard Island
AS020 AS = Asia Taiwan
NA107 NA = North America Martinique
OC225 OC = Oceania Turtle Islands
SA004 SA = South America Galapagos
This contest brings together those who like to put islands on the air, those who enjoy contesting, as well as those chasing islands for awards. Please join us for a great weekend!

The Humber Fortress DX ARC has once again been invited by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, to put on a station during International Lighthouse on the Air weekend, Spurn High Light is a visitor attraction, and the tallest lighthouse in Northern England!
Made of 300,000 Staffordshire bricks, with a height of 128ft (39m) and 145 steps to the top landing, providing a spectacular view of the Spurn nature reserve and the River Humber.
We are pleased to have been invited back by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to help promote the restored Spurn High lighthouse for the 25 Anniversary of International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend and to back to Spurn Point to activate GB2SL.
Since our last visit, there have been changes to the shape of Spurn Point and it is now inaccessible to road transport due to the storms of 2013.
With at least a 200-yard break between the mainland and Spurn Point, it is a newly created island at high tide.
We are taking a small team of 12, regrettably, only those who can climb Stairs can attend this event, manpower and equipment will be ferried to the site by the YWT, in “or should that be on” their Unimog all-terrain vehicle.
